Dynamic Single-Cell Analysis Through Microfluidics-Enabled Impedance Spectroscopy and Fluorescence Microscopy

The goal of the project is to develop an integrated microfluidic platform that combines high-resolution time-lapse fluorescence microscopy with electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), providing multiple parallel readouts from the same platform. Specifically, we are trying to study colonies of single cells using time-lapse imaging, while simultaneously monitoring their growth rate using impedance spectroscopy. The developed methodology will help us to understand the interplay and regulation of how cells monitor their nutritional environment, integrate this information into the cell cycle, regulate their cell cycle, and whether and how these regulatory processes change during a cellular life cycle.
